Early-career teachers are leaving the profession at alarming rates — especially teachers of color and those committed to equity.

Nearly half of new teachers leave the profession within five years, with the highest attrition rates in high-poverty and high-minority schools. Teachers of color and those committed to equity face even greater challenges: racial isolation, cultural taxation, burnout, and inadequate support.

Even when teachers enter the field with strong preparation in Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT), their ability to sustain equity-focused practice is shaped by their early teaching environments.

When school cultures marginalize student voice and community knowledge, new teachers often lose the very practices they came in to champion. These patterns are structural—and they harm both educators and students.

Supporting early-career educators through community-centered learning

TEECH partners with schools, districts, and educator preparation programs that are seeking more sustainable ways to support and develop early-career teachers serving culturally diverse communities. We work alongside organizations navigating the complexities of supporting early-career educators within existing induction, mentoring, and preparation systems.

Our role is to provide a complementary, non-evaluative program that strengthens teaching practice, supports well-being and retention, and grounds educators in the cultural communities connected to their schools.

Who We Partner With

TEECH forges collaborative partnerships with:

  • K–12 schools and school districts seeking stronger induction and retention supports for early-career teachers, particularly in schools serving culturally diverse communities.

  • Charter and alternative schools looking for a values-aligned, community-centered supplement to existing mentoring or PAR programs.

  • Universities and colleges of education interested in strengthening the connection between preservice preparation, community-based learning, and the first years of teaching.

  • Community-based and education-focused organizations supporting grow-your-own pathways, residency programs, or educator well-being initiatives.

What do partnership with TEECH look like?

Partnership with TEECH is not a one-off professional development offering. It is a sustained collaboration designed to fill gaps that many systems struggle to address on their own.
